Celebrating One Year at Gato Gordo Gallery

This week marks the first anniversary of Gato Gordo Gallery in this location—and what an incredible year it has been! In just twelve months, we’ve welcomed new artists, new audiences, and new opportunities that continue to expand our vision for what this gallery can be.

We’ve hosted 10 diverse exhibitions and countless events that reflect the wide spirit of Gato Gordo Gallery. From our very first show of Argentinian art to the intricate traditions of Korean bojagi, from playful showcases like the International Cat Salon to powerful tributes during Black History Month, and from celebrating local Miami talent to welcoming artists from around the globe, our gallery has embraced many voices and visions. Alongside the exhibitions, we’ve created space for community through art classes, creative workshops, performances, and cultural gatherings—including a weekend dedicated to Haitian art—making the gallery not just a place to view art, but a place to share it together.

Our reach has grown far beyond Miami, with artists and supporters following us from around the world. During Art Miami Week, we proudly participated in an international art fair where Gato Gordo Gallery received a Spotlight Award—a recognition that continues to inspire us as we prepare for our next fair later this year.

This year also brought new connections as we became members of the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB), expanding our role in the cultural life of our community. Most importantly, we’ve been building a vibrant and supportive community around the gallery—something we are deeply grateful for.

To everyone who has visited, shared, supported, or simply followed along on this journey: thank you. Your enthusiasm makes everything possible.

And we’re only just getting started. Stay tuned—our community is growing, our projects are expanding, and exciting news is just around the corner.
