Gato Gordo Gallery, Miami, FL, is proud to announce the participation of its represented artist, Oskar Romo, in the major exhibition Digna Rabia, currently on view at the Museo de Arte Miguel Urrutia (MAMU), Banco de la República, in Bogotá, Colombia.
The exhibition brings together key works from the museum’s collection, including iconic pieces such as Violencia by Alejandro Obregón, works by Feliza Bursztyn, and engravings by Ricardo Rendón, alongside contemporary expressions of resistance.
Romo’s inclusion places his work within a broader dialogue on social tension, memory, and urban experience. The selected works come from his City Fragments series (1998–1999), created in mixed media on raw canvas, where he explores the psychological impact of rapidly and irregularly expanding cities.
As the artist writes:
“The fear that the vitality of a rapidly and irregularly developing city inspires in us, combined with the lack of ownership of public space, leads us to survive in a city without an owner.”
The Museo de Arte Miguel Urrutia has also acquired two of Romo’s paintings for its permanent collection, further recognizing the significance of his work.
We invite our community to visit Digna Rabia at MAMU or learn more through the Banco de la República’s official channels. We are honored to see Oskar Romo’s work included in this important exhibition.
