As a brand-new nonprofit founded by artists, we’ve built everything from the ground up. Every free exhibition, every poetry night, every performance, every community canvas, or drawing session — all of it was created and funded by us, personally. Not because it was easy, but because it mattered.
One moment that has stayed with us comes from a recent community canvas event. A young girl walked in, watched the artists painting, and immediately asked if she could join them. When we said yes, her whole face lit up — she couldn’t believe she was allowed to paint right next to experienced artists, on the same canvas, as an equal participant. Her excitement was pure, contagious, and a reminder of why this work means so much.
