Hidden Worlds: Beyond the Obvious
August 15 – 30, 2026
We live surrounded by images we believe we know. Yet beneath every form lies a hidden dimension—unseen structures, memories, symbols, relationships, and quiet worlds that often escape our attention.
Hidden Worlds: Beyond the Obvious marks the first joint exhibition at Gato Gordo Gallery by Inna Malostovker and Oscar Esteban Martinez, founders of the gallery. Bringing together two distinct artistic practices, the exhibition explores art’s ability to reveal what lies beyond immediate perception. Working across different mediums, both artists share a common pursuit: transforming reality to uncover meanings that exist beneath its surface.
Inna Malostovker’s work begins with close observation of the natural world. Moving from photography to digital compositions and, ultimately, to painting, her work traces a progression from capturing what she sees to transforming and reimagining it. Across these different forms, observation remains the foundation, while each medium offers a different way of exploring what lies beyond the immediately visible.
Oscar Esteban Martínez approaches the invisible through painting, drawing, and selected sculptural works. His practice transforms the human figure, memory, belief, and identity into symbolic landscapes where visible forms become gateways to deeper emotional and psychological realities.
Rather than presenting two independent artistic practices, Hidden Worlds creates a dialogue between two complementary ways of seeing. One looks outward, revealing the hidden complexity of nature; the other turns inward, exploring the unseen landscapes of human experience. Together, their works invite viewers to slow down, look beyond appearances, and discover connections that often remain unnoticed.
As the first exhibition at Gato Gordo Gallery bringing together the artistic practices of its founders, Hidden Worlds also reflects the vision that has shaped the gallery since its beginning: a commitment to art that inspires curiosity, contemplation, and meaningful dialogue. Ultimately, Hidden Worlds reminds us that every act of looking is also an act of discovery. Beyond the visible lies a world of connections, meanings, and possibilities waiting to be revealed.
