International Cat Salon
April 5 — May 17, 2025
Since ancient times, cats have captivated artists with their elegance, mystery, and enigmatic character. Iconic figures in art, such as Leonardo da Vinci, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Henri Matisse, and Tsuguharu Foujita, found in these felines an inexhaustible source of inspiration, portraying them in their paintings and drawings as symbols of beauty, independence, and companionship.
Following this tradition, Gato Gordo Gallery proudly presents the First International Cat Salon, an exhibition that pays tribute to these beloved animals through the eyes of contemporary artists. The response to this call has been extraordinary: artists from various parts of the world have shared their passion for cats in a rich variety of techniques and styles. The exhibition includes detailed illustrations, prints, delicate charcoal and pastel drawings, vibrant acrylic and oil paintings, expressive ceramic sculptures, photography, and digital art.
Each work in this exhibition reflects the personal relationship of its creator with these animals: some artists have immortalized their own pets, while others explore feline curiosities and essence through their art. The salon is not only an aesthetic celebration but also a call to reflect on responsible pet ownership and the importance of supporting foundations dedicated to the rescue and care of animals.
We invite the public to immerse themselves in this exhibition, to be carried away by the magic of cats, and to actively participate in promoting a more conscious and compassionate world for our animal companions.
