A city is more than a place. It is also memory, landscape, tradition, and a particular way of seeing the world.

One City. Seven Visions. brings together seven artists from Pasto, Colombia, representing different generations and artistic trajectories. The exhibition begins with a simple idea: a shared territory can give rise to profoundly different ways of imagining and representing reality.

In Homero Aguilar’s work, reality is transformed through light, space, and fantasy. Marco Antonio Santacruz finds in Nariño’s landscapes, mist, and natural environment a territory between observation and imagination, while Dayra Benavides transforms the visual and symbolic power of the Carnival of Blacks and Whites into a living contemporary artistic expression.

Through other visual languages, Franco Ponce creates unexpected encounters between art history and characters from popular culture; Oskar Romo constructs a gestural, urban, and symbolic universe; while Ricardo Lagos uses fantasy and surrealism to transform scenes of Latin American everyday life into reflections on labor, motherhood, survival, and social realities. In the work of Oscar Esteban Martínez, the human figure becomes a territory for exploring identity, transformation, and belonging.

There is no single aesthetic that unites these artists—and that is precisely the strength of the exhibition. Pasto sometimes appears visibly through its landscapes and traditions, and at other times as a deeper imprint: a memory, a sensibility, and a point of departure.

Presented in Miami during Hispanic Heritage Month, One City. Seven Visions. creates a cultural bridge between Colombia and the United States while offering a contemporary perspective on the artistic richness of a city in southern Colombia.
